HHS Region 2 Stakeholder Engagement Meeting – Tuesday June 11, 2019
9:30 am – 3:30 PM Eastern Time
Welcome to the registration site for the HHS Region 2 Stakeholder Engagement meeting, focused on developing strategies to improve adult immunization through a discussion on best and emerging practices.
Despite a safe, effective vaccine, too few Americans are vaccinated against HPV. Only half of adolescents were up-to-date on their HPV vaccination in 2017. Among adults, rates are even lower with only 41.6% of women and 10% of males ages 19 – 26 reporting receipt of at least 1 dose of HPV vaccine in 2015. By using evidence-based strategies to improve HPV vaccination rates, we could prevent more than 30,000 HPV cancers in the United States each year.
Health care organizations and systems are critical to improving HPV vaccination rates. This New Jersey and New York large health care systems meeting, hosted in partnership by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) Region 2 and National Vaccine Program Office (NVPO), will increase awareness and usage of best practices and tools to improve HPV vaccination series initiation and completion.
During the meeting, we will work collaboratively to:
- Increase awareness of the current status and population-based trends in HPV vaccination in New Jersey and New York.
- Learn about the strategies New Jersey and New York champions have employed to raise HPV vaccination rates within their health care systems.
- Reduce missed clinical opportunities through reminder-recall and other immunization registry tools available in New Jersey and New York.
The meeting builds on HHS efforts to improve HPV vaccination and adult immunization rates across the United States. NVPO is supporting this meeting as part of broader efforts to promote successful implementation of the National Adult Immunization Plan (NAIP) and strengthen multi-sector partnerships.
The meeting will be held at:
